Whether its being creative, feeling better, relaxing or just meeting loads of friendly people, we are here to help! It’s reassuring to know that we have over 100 men & women attend our classes weekly, with goals of dancing elegantly, having fun with self-expression and meeting great people to dance with!

Some questions we get asked all the time…

FIRST CLASS EVER

Can I come alone, or do I need a partner?

As you wish! Some people come with a partner, others with a group of friends, many come alone – don’t worry, you’ll find plenty of people to dance with during the class…

What should I expect from a first class?

We’ll make sure you’re warmed-up before starting anything, then introduce you to the tango embrace. You’ll soon learn that Argentine tango is not exactly what you see on TV programmes – it’s much more gentle and sophisticated… and very musical. For your first class, expect to walk a lot, meet people, probably make a few mistakes, and have fun. Ah, and don’t leave without having a glass of wine with us, at the practica or milonga afterwards!

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes. Clothes you can move freely in. Avoid tight skirts and tops that restrain shoulder movement, but apart from that, it’s pretty free. Plenty of our students come directly after work, and find that most of their work clothes are just fine.
Ladies, do not worry about the heels! Actually, until you are a bit more experienced, flat shoes with a flexible sole are probably best. But again, for a first class and before you find your own style, every thing will do.

GENERAL

Help! I'm a Beginner

Great! Our classes are all about embracing all abilities, with a big emphasis on boosting confidence and self-esteem. It is our policy that you can ask as many questions as you need to and take classes at your own pace. There is no pressure or judgment. Our team has been selected for being kind, inspiring, fun and approachable, so don’t be nervous – just go for it!

Am I too old/too young to take a class?
All TANGO SPACE classes, workshops, masterclasses and weekend courses are for adults aged 18 and above.
Do I need to come with a partner?

No. You can, but you don’t have to, and most people don’t. We rotate partners during the class (except if you don’t want to), as we know that you learn faster when you practice with many different people.

What happens if there are too many men/women in the class?

As we rotate partners, you will always get to dance. If there is a gender imbalance, the teachers either dance with the ones not dancing or helps them practice their technique with individual exercises. In the following song, we make sure that the people who weren’t dancing get to dance.
